Who We Are

We are Romain and Alexandre Lecat: brothers, bakers and entrepreneurs from France with a passion for high quality bread. Over many years of visiting and eventually living in Los Angeles, we fell in love with the city, but couldn’t stand the taste of its bread. In the land of dreams, we decided to chase our own by starting an authentic French artisan bakery. We went home to Paris, learned the trade at l’École de Boulangerie et de Pâtisserie de Paris, and returned with the finest quality flour we could find from the fields of France. Now, we hope to fill your tables with the same authentic, natural, and delicious food we grew up loving.

Our Mission

Our mission at Sweet Wheat is to bring the highest quality bread to the City of Angels. That’s why we use whole, unbleached flour from the fields of France. We’ve gone back to our roots to provide a unique, wholesome, healthier grain variety from non-GMO certified fields, drawing from a tradition of milling that dates back hundreds of years.

Each and every baked good at Sweet Wheat is hand-crafted by artisan French bakers who value creating exceptional food for everyone to enjoy. It’s a cultural tradition, and it’s a lifestyle choice. We provide an experience that takes you beyond the refined and processed grains typically found on American tables. You will certainly taste the difference:

Our Levain

It’s a not-so-secret secret recipe: Our bread culture is pure, and starts with whole wheat flour, water, and salt mixed with French savoir faire and a lot of love. This in-house levain method takes several weeks to create because we want the active starter to have a long, slow fermentation process. This ensures a complex bread flavor that is proven to be better for digestion. This fermentation process also produces greater bioavailability and antioxidants, supporting a healthy gut microbiome !

Customers

We strive to provide our customers with the highest quality products and ease of convenience at our most affordable prices. We only use unbleached flour—maintaining a natural color that tastes much better than bleached white flour—that is certified non-GMO and free from additives and enzymes. We also offer easy online ordering with free delivery options and great prices all around.  

Employees

Respect and dignity are at the foundation of our workplace. We provide generous benefits and salary to our local employees because a living wage is the only way. Internationally, Sweet Wheat sources its grains from a well-established cooperative in France. This decision was important for both the quality of our bread and to ensure an ethical supply chain. We value farmers running their own businesses, and we produce and package our flour in their local mills, as close as possible to the creators.

Social Impact  

Sweet Wheat’s supply chain and work methodology is centered on sustainable practices—to help both the environment and our customers. Our grains are sourced from responsible, non-GMO agriculture. We aim to reduce our carbon footprint by minimizing food waste, plastic usage, and trips to stores. $30 Minimum Order For Free Delivery - We deliver 7-days a week, including holidays.

Free of charge delivery to most of the Los Angeles Area and constantly expanding our reach.
